Technology Industry Experts: Renate Noone

Renate Noone, Vice President, Consulting Services, SunGard Availability Services

Renate brings more than 25 years of business and technology experience to SunGard, currently leading a team of more than twenty consultants as they assess the risks and develop mitigation strategies and plans for SunGard customers.  She is a hands-on leader, directly overseeing select accounts and providing quality assurance reviews for numerous others.

Recognizing that a potential pandemic scenario requires a different focus for planning than other natural or man-made disasters, Renate initiated and led the development of SunGard’s Pandemic Response Planning methodology.  She also led the initial development of SunGard’s Enterprise Availability Methodology and continues to provide quality assurance reviews of new methodologies prior to field rollout.

Prior to joining SunGard, Renate developed substantial experience in applications development, organization change management, business process re-engineering, and technology solutions from five years with SAP and 15 years with Accenture.  At SAP, Renate was Vice President of Customer Training Development; responsible for globally accepted training for SAP’s suite of software.  At Accenture, she was a recognized leader in managing large systems projects and change management initiatives, delivering projects on time, on budget, with high client satisfaction.

Renate earned her B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.  The graduated Magna Cum Laude with a dual concentration in Decision Sciences and Finance.  She is also a member of the Project Management Institute.

Commentary:

It’s sometimes difficult to appreciate that all potential business disruptions and natural disasters are not created equal and how this very fact impacts a company’s overall business continuity planning efforts.  A pandemic event requires a different kind of response – companies need to think about how they will continue to operate if a high percentage of their workforce is forced to work remotely, or if key decision makers are not available to put a plan into action.  We’ve done extensive research in this area and have worked closely with companies to adjust their plans to accommodate this kind of an event – all while keeping laser-focused on having a flexible and dynamic information availability plan that can be put into place no matter the disruption.
