AdvancedRecoverySM with Online Backup
To start, SunGard provides your IT team with a SunGard-monitored and managed appliance that resides at your location. Without cumbersome and costly agents, Secure2Disk connects directly to Windows, Linux, UNIX, and AS/400 servers. Your next step is to simply log onto a user-friendly web-based interface and configure the backup process – i.e., when the backups are to take place, how many backup copies of each file are to be retained, and how long each backup is to be stored.
Over a secure Internet connection, Secure2Disk then transmits the latest copy of information, deduplicated, compressed and encrypted, to a secure backup repository located in a SunGard facility. Deduplicating data prior to transmitting allows an efficient use of bandwidth during the backup window.
Once at the vault, the encrypted backup data is stored in a SunGard-owned and managed, highly-available repository. Only you can read your data, using your encryption key. Multiple generations of backup data can be stored in the vault – days, weeks, months, or years – allowing you to meet your specific availability and compliance requirements.
Secure2Disk also locates the off-site stored data where it is needed most in case of an interruption…next to SunGard’s inventory of systems recovery processors, which can be used in the event of a disaster or test.
You can monitor the status of the backup environment and restore any file around the clock. If a recent file is needed, you can restore it from the on-site appliance; for older information, restoration can be obtained from the vaulted data. In the event of a disaster or test, SunGard provides a recovery appliance, at no additional cost, and all your critical data can be quickly restored.
